Workspace roles help manage access and responsibilities, making collaboration secure and efficient.
There are three types of roles you can assign to users in a workspace:
1. Workspace owners
Workspace owners have full administrative control. They can:
- Create and delete workspaces
- Add or remove members
- Change the workspace notification email address
- Leave this field blank to send API request approval notifications to all members
- Set a specific email to direct notifications to an individual or group
Additional capabilities:
- Transfer ownership to another workspace owner
- Receive email notifications when users are added or removed
- Request support team assistance to transfer ownership if a user is locked out or leaves the organisation
2. API developers
Can:
- Create and edit APIs within the workspace
They can't:
- Edit or delete the workspace
- Add or remove members
3. Support users
Can:
- View all workspaces
- Approve or reject workspace creation requests
Workspace role assignment rules
- Only users with a Department domain email address (ending in @education.gov.uk) can be added to the workspace owner role.
- You can assign multiple users to any workspace role, including owner, contributor, or viewer
This ensures that ownership remains within trusted Department for Education domain while allowing flexible collaboration across roles.
